Verica Ilic

Verica Ilic – art historian, painter, poet. She graduated from Art History on Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade with master studies, also with  High School of Fine and Applied Arts in Belgrade.

Born in Petrovac na Mlavi 29.03.1968. She’s a member of ULUS ( Association of Visual Artists of Serbia)

Besides being a professional painter, she also writes poetry. Her poems are published in multiple proceedings and anthologies.

She participated in many Poet manifestations and Book Nights. She merges poetry with music and painting and turns it into a happening, on her exhibitions and public manifestations (Health Festival…). She organizes programs with multimedial events in many institutions of culture.

Verica writes love poetry, spiritual poetry, poetry for children and travelouges…

She lives and creates in Belgrade, Serbia.

CRUCIFIXION AS A SYMBOL OF LOVE

A God’s secret is kept safe,

In holy chalice,

Through pain and tears.

That dark truth comes

from human sins.

On the cross it stays,

To shine through centuries

Reminding us of love and sacrifice ,

For humankind.

Believe in resurrection,

And the afterlife,

When in the distance you hear

Monastery bells,

Pray for salvation, pray for love!

DEDICATED TO HAPPINESS

Tonight everything spins,

Everything becomes reverse,

What was once hidden,

Now aims toward the sky

In the speed of light,

Never stays immovable

Is never afraid of anything!

From the skies, to infinity!

Like a night wish,

A sound, a melody

Which overtakes all our senses!

Higher and faster

Unusual, inscrutable

To universe love travels,

Spreading joy.

FLYING TO THE SKY

My thoughts move slowly,

Wander from terrifying night silence

To wonderful sunrays.

A past that’s long gone, forgotten!

Step by step…

Birds come to me,

they whisper an untold secret

about immortality,

about melody and love.

There it goes,

my secret flies away to the sky!

HIDDEN SECRET

Silently, I walk on clouds

I sleep on morning dew.

I’ll tell you a secret,

In my heart, mystic creatures live.

My mind is visited by cherubs,

My body hovers with stars.

Sadness dances through the night,

A fairytale song flies,

Symphonies made of dreams are turned into vine,

Into love…

One wish has been discovered,

May the truth forever live!

MUSIC IN OUR HEARTS

What is that music in our hearts?

The same melody…

Magically taking over our soul.

Continuously, aiming high!

We are two instruments,

Played by the same musician,

With the same notes in our hearts.
