Anna Maria PuglieseMultimedial Artist, Anna Maria Pugliese lives and works in Naples.
After a period of artistic formation at the Institute of Arts “Palizzi” and at the Accademy of Fine Arts of Naples, she continues her research of cultural formation at the Faculty of Humanities at the University Federico II in Naples, with the specialization in History of Art.
Much of her working life has been devoted to the investigation of links and interactions between art and society.
Deeply aware of the close links between ethics and aesthetics, she attaches primary importance to an active and socially responsible role within culture. In her view, the ultimate goals to which the artist’s creative energy has to be applied include raising awareness of ethical issues and emphasising the influence that culture can exert on social life both as a reflection of our time and as an agent of transformation and social growth.
Her work brings her to explore the full gamut of artistic expression: from music to video art, creating synergy between sound and image; from performance to poetry, linking up the real with the imaginary and using body language and the sound power of words as tools for a sort of all-encompassing poetical-philosophical inquiry running parallel to scientific investigation.
Videos, digital photographs, sculptures, natural elements [an olive-tree, leaves or apples] and phrases in print or light are used to modulate the ‘work space’ of her installations from time to time.
Anna Maria Pugliese’s works have been exhibited in public institutions, museums and private art galleries.
