Yes. There was only one, but really only one person who roamed in ease in the incredible, amazing and fearsome ocean consisting of thousands and ten-thousands of tents erected in front of Vienna with the full faith that the city would soon fall–a gigantic ocean where you could swim your way or lose it altogether, and this same person walked around between a swarm of men, whom you would think could neither be counted nor contained in the horizon or comprehended through geometry, rows of animals, and high waves of cannons, and especially combined cannons and heavy cannons, as though he was playing hopscotch in the backyard of his home, and he also filed the stars at night with the easy feeling of knowing which secret path he had to follow to reach the tent he wanted, found a mistake in every map he saw but kept silent, and always knew where the Muslim soldiers and the valiant Viennese young men were and what they did or would do at any given moment.

In fact, Mole Hüseyin Celebi got together with whoever he wanted to meet in this mind-blowing chaos, but whenever he didn’t want to see someone\'s face, that person couldn’t come across Hüseyin Celebi no matter how hard he tried even for forty years, and let aside meeting Hüseyin Celebi in person, he couldn’t even find any information about Hüseyin Celebi’s whereabouts even though he sent men to search for him–Hüseyin Celebi would simply disappear without a trace. No one could ask for divine guidance through a dream, get hold of him through a spell, lie in ambush while waiting for the wind to bring his smell, or see his shadow in coffee grounds. Who could have ever dared to hold down Mole Hüseyin Celebi’s image after he already vanished into thin air after raking over the ashes of the evident world?

What did he do for job? I don’t know what to say. What can we say about Hüseyin Celebi? From the present day’s point of view, he was perhaps a scientist. He had always been a researcher, an experimenter, who worked in makeshift ‘laboratories,’ and the pursuer of inventions. In truth, he was a scientist who turned tail and fled from science, who felt peaceful where science didn’t exist, who was scared of research so much that whenever he heard the word ‘research’ he screamed and felt suffocated, saying the walls were crashing over him, and who was an experimenter who didn’t believe in experimenting at all. All right, we’ve got it. But can anyone deny that he loved formulas, enjoyed roaming in the world of intellect where inventions got tangled with each other, and that he even managed to pull you in to this lightness? From this aspect, he was a well-admired mole of science. Or rather, the scientist of our hearts.

Perhaps, Hüseyin Celebi wasn’t one of the eldest participants of this age-old siege–the oldest siege around Vienna; however, he was senior in rank. He had been there for eighteen long years. Ah, those were the days! Easier said than done! He got to know so many sultans, chamberlains, grand viziers, and sergeants. One other thing about Hüseyin Celebi was that even when it was obvious that his words were far from the truth, everyone unavoidably believed him. This could not only be explained by him being devilishly charming; one could say that he wore the Devil’s cloak. It was true that he had been carrying out a ‘scientific’ research for eighteen years. He had convinced the Sultan, his Grand Vizier and even everyone else around them that he had the power to produce an elixir that when sprinkled or smeared, could melt down the ramparts, fortresses, bastions, and each and every infidel stone on the walls of Vienna, leaving the city naked as a pink fairy. And everyone seemed to believe that this had nothing to do with magic or the arts of the Devil, but that it would be possible solely through science and faith. All he needed to accomplish this task was time. He needed to work on it, and they had to trust God’s help while also giving him their own support.

sayılabilir ne bilinebilir ne ufukla sarılabilir ne hendeseyle
çözülebilir dedirten ademler türlü hayvanlar toplar ve bilhassa
balyemez topları ve kombrine topları ve şahi toplarından oluşan
yüksek dalgalar arasında sanki evinin arka bahçesinde sek sek
oynuyormuşcasına rahatça dolaşan ve hangi çadırın arkasında kaybolur
ve hangi gizli yolu izlerse hangi çadırın önüne çıkacağını ezbere
bilmenin hinliğiyle geceleri yıldızları törpüleyen ve gördüğü her
haritada hata bulup da söylemeyen ve gerek İslam askerlerinden gerek
Viyana yiğitlerinden kimin ne zaman nerede ve nasil durduğunu ne
yaptığını ve ne yapacağını bilen ve hep bilebilen bir tek Allah\'ın
kulu vardı.

Köstebek Hüseyin Çelebi, gerçekten de şu koca kargaşada kiminle
karşılaşmak istiyorsa onunla karşılaşır, olur da birinin yüzünü bir
daha görmek istemezse alimallah kırk yıl geçse o kişi Hüseyin Çelebi
ile karşılaşmayı beceremez ve bırakın karşılaşmayı peşine düşse, adam
salsa dahi Hüseyin Çelebi nerededir, hangi deliktedir, peki nerede
değildir, izi cismi n\'olmuştur, bulamazdı. Ne uykuya yatıp niyetini
çözebilir, ne bir büyü ile ipliğinden tutabilir, ne rüzgârda pusuya
yatıp kokusunu alabilir, ne de bir falda gölgesini görebilirdi.
Köstebek Hüseyin Çelebi bilinen dünyayı sessizce eşeleyip kayıplara
karıştıktan sonra kim onun suretini zaptetmeye cüret edebilir?

Ne işle mi meşguldü? Bilemiyorum ki ne demeli. Hüseyin Çelebi için ne
diyebiliriz? Bugünkü dille bir bilimadamı belki. O, her zaman bir
araştırmacı, bir takım geçici \'laboratuvar\'ların deneycisi ya da çoğu
kez salt buluşların bir takipçisi idi. Bilimden köşe bucak kaçan, en
çok bilimin olmadığı ve uğramayacağı yerlerde huzur bulan bir
bilimadamı, araştırmadan korkan, araştırma denince duvarların üzerine
üzerine gelmesinden veryansın eden müşteki bir araştırmacı, deneylere
inanmayan bir deneyci. Anladık tamam, ama formülleri sevdiğini,
buluşların öncesiz sonrasız birbirine dolaştığı bir zihin aleminde
hareket etmekten hoşlandığını, sizi de bu hafifliğin içine
çekebildiğini inkâr mı edeceksiniz? Sevilen bir ilim köstebeği idi bu
yanıyla. Ya da daha çok –gönüllerin bilimadamı.

Hüseyin Çelebi, Viyana çevresindeki en eski kuşatma olan bu kadim
kuşatmanın yaşayan en eski sakinlerinden değildi belki ama yine de
epey kıdemliydi. Tam 18 yıldır buralardaydı. Hey gidi yıllar! Dile
kolay! Ne padişahlar, kethüdalar, sadrazamlar, çavuşbaşılar tanımıştı.
Hüseyin Çelebi\'nin bir özelliği de şu idi ki söylediklerinin doğru
olmadığı ayan beyan ortada olsa dahi karşısındaki bahtsız bile bile
ona inanırdı. Artık bu durum şeytan tüyü ile anlatılamaz, şeytan postu
vardı üzerinde. Evet, tam 18 yıldır bir \'bilimsel\' çalışma
yürütüyordu. Padişah\'ı, Sadrazam\'ı, yanındakini berisindeki, şuna;
kale surlarına fışkırtmakla veya sürmekle ya da değdirmekle diyelim,
bütün surları, burçları, tabyaları, Viyana şehrinin çevresinde doğmuş
büyümüş bugünlere gelmiş tüm gavur şehir duvarlarını, tüm taşları
eritecek ve anadan üryan çırılçıplak pembe bir peri olarak Viyana
şehrinin bir anda önlerinde açılmasını sağlayacak bir iksir
üretebileceğine inandırmıştı. Bunun büyüyle, şeytanlıkla bir ilgisi
olmadığına, ilimle, fenle ve imanla kotarılacağına da herkesi ikna
etmiş görünüyordu. Sadece ona biraz zaman verilmeli, çalışabilmesi
sağlanmalı, Allah\'ın yardımına güvenilmeli ve bazı deneyler
yapabilmesi için desteklenmeliydi

BIOGRAPHY:
Süreyya Evren [born 19 May 1972, İstanbul] is a writer working on literature, contemporary art, and radical politics focusing on Turkish post-structuralist anarchism [postanarchism]. His real name is Süreyya Evren Türkeli. He added the third “y” in “Süreyya”.
Evren publishes a cultural magazine on post-structuralism called Blackish [Siyahî] in Turkey, which can be found online. His writings have also been published in anarchist periodicals The New Formulation in New York, Anarchist Studies in the UK and Refractions in France. Literary works include several novels, story books and critical essays. He is writing a column in the daily Turkish newspaper Birgun.
He graduated from Nişantaşı Anatolian High School and then dropped out of Mimar Sinan University, where he had been studying of architecture. He has worked as an editor, redactor and translator at publishing houses and as a member of magazine publishing committees. In 1991 he won the Short Story Achievement Award in the Varlık Review’s 1000th Issue Youth Awards.
