Chen Ming-keh / 陳明克

Chen Ming-keh （b. 1956） received his PhD in physics from Tsing-Hua University in 1986. He has been a member of Li Poetry Society since 1987 and now a member of editorial board of the same as well as Taiwan modern poetry. His publication includes nine collected poems and two collected short stories. He was awarded with six prizes of literature in Taiwan.

        In the crowd /人群中

Staggering in the crowd

I worried about falling down, being trampled

When could I,

as a flower in flowers,

catch the breeze？   

I couldn't open the door / 打不開門

The footsteps sounded soft

looking for me in the long corridor

and gradually coming closer

while I couldn't open the door

        Watch silently / 默默看著

The fallen yellow flowers

flooded the whole road

Flowers were still falling

Ah! Not only I but

the grasses, striving to be in blossom,

also watch silently

        Flowers of the rain / 雨之花

How far the rain ran?

They can’t be in blossom

They knocked the ground to be flowers

I'm also looking for my flower

        After rain / 雨後

Don't cut the grasses

They were busy wearing

God's pearls

        Vagrants in the road / 遊民的路上

Under the gloomy sky

a few vagrants, bending their heads

and wearing plastic bags, wandered

It sounded like withered leaves in the wind

In the long road

green lamps suddenly lit up all the way

With rifles, policemen blocked vagrants

Leaves passed through policemen from their legs

The motorcade fleeted away

Vagrants tugged their plastic bags

not to fly away

Their bowed bodies were spinning

The alert lamps of the police patrol cars flashed and screamed

That man was going to advocate weight loss
