Alice M. Sun-Cua (1955) es poeta, ensayista, traductora y médica filipina, especializada en obstetricia y ginecología en el Hospital San Juan de Dios.

Su obra poética aborda temas de identidad, familia y vida cotidiana, destacando su libro Charted Prophecies and Other Poems (2001). Es también una reconocida autora de narrativa de viajes, género en el que obtuvo el Premio Nacional del Libro de Filipinas por Riding Towards the Sunrise and Other Travel Tales (2000), además de publicar obras como Autumn in Madrid (2013) y Golden Kumquats in Trieste and Other Travel Narratives (2018).

Como traductora, ha contribuido al diálogo entre la literatura española y las lenguas filipinas, traduciendo Nada de Carmen Laforet al hiligaynon y obras de destacados poetas españoles al inglés y a lenguas locales.

En 2018 recibió el premio Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas de la Unión de Escritores de Filipinas (UMPIL) por su aporte al ensayo en inglés.

Alice M. Sun-Cua (1955) is a Filipino poet, essayist, translator, and physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology at San Juan de Dios Hospital.

Her poetry explores themes of identity, family, and everyday life, notably in Charted Prophecies and Other Poems (2001). She is also a distinguished travel writer and received the Philippine National Book Award for Riding Towards the Sunrise and Other Travel Tales (2000). Other notable works include Autumn in Madrid (2013) and Golden Kumquats in Trieste and Other Travel Narratives (2018).

As a translator, she has contributed significantly to the dialogue between Spanish literature and Philippine languages, translating Nada by Carmen Laforet into Hiligaynon, as well as works by prominent Spanish poets into English and local languages.
