Sonnet Mondal has come up as an emerging voice in the world of poetry and literature during the past one year. His first book 'A Poetic Peep Into The Post Modern World' published by The Underground Literature Publications in 2007 was highly praised by personalities like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam[the then President of India] and Gopal Krishna Gandhi[Governor of West Bengal].Apart from this he has received more than thousand letters of appreciation from peoples of over 25 countries. Since January 2008, Sonnet has received a series of International awards and recognitions like World Poet declaration by Lyriczeitung Poetry News of Germany followed by Creative Pen Outstanding Contribution award and Reader's Choice award from United Kingdom, Poet of the day certification from Australian Society of Poets, The Plato award, The 21st Century award for achievement, The Red Ribbon Poetry Award from Holistic Junction, U.S.A., etc. His biography has been listed in the 'Marquis Who's Who Of The World', U.S.A.[Marquis Who's Who titles are used for research by universities such as Northwestern's and Harvard's] and in list of '2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century' published by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, U.K. His poems have been published in several magazines and journals of the World like Muse India[India], Poetic Diversity[U.S.A.], Holistic Junction[U.S.A.], NDTV Poetry corner[India], etc. He is a member of a number of International Literary forums like International Literature and Culture, World Poets Society, World Heritage Centre[UNESCO], Australian Society of Poets, Helium Center, etc. 
Sonnet is the Founder and Managing Editor of 'The Enchanting Verses International Journal '[ISSN-0974-3057].He is also the Founder and Secretary General of the 'United Minds For Peace Society' [A Global Peace Organization].He has also recently authored another book of poems 'The Curse of Atlantis and Other Poems' published by the Underground Literature Kolkata Publishers.

Who am I?

I am not a magician of Heaven,
Neither a wizard of Fairy tales----
I am a soul whose heart has been stolen..
For someone's mind, perhaps to be broken!!!!
I am neither a Saint of Ionian Mount,
Neither a leader of Nation---
I am a human whose thoughts are wild..
For all which may not be mild!!!
I am not a dictator of ancient Rome,
Neither an orator in Shakespeare's plays---
But I am a Poet whose Pen speaks out for me.
For hope to touch and feel the Almighty!!!

Mankind

The Fence of customs around me-
When through them I peep to see
To be free..
But it's mental only-----
Shoots too strong to uproot the tree.
The Fence changes-
But not the senses...
Complex yet unexpected---
Diverse yet connected!!
The Fence is no wood but mind!!!!
And me none but Mankind!!!!!!!!!!!

When I meet you...

Today the moon seems to be replaced by your face!!!
The stars too seem to reflect your gaze---
A new blood is gushing through my arms..
My wound neglects any more balm.
The cold wind seem to pass on your whisper-
To swing my wits in the feathery air!!!
I hope you too are on the same sail of thoughts-
That spread like ink blots...
My heart is learning to speak today-
Perhaps to speak when we meet the next day....
