2 o’clock on a modest afternoon
On this afternoon of modest makeup
Atop the tree hangs a sigh from my heart
Bitter-sweet shutters open and close in melancholy
As time runs extra long and hard
Wordless yonder mountains
Tireless ocean waves
Dreaming fish that flies
Enter my eyes
Thoughtfully amidst tiny dust lit by sunlight.
An afternoon so modest
Soundlessly time sweeps by.
On lighting bolts imagination gaily gallops
Beyond the clouds
Last year’s strawberries
The ones I wanted to greet
Morphing smoke of wormwood
The afternoons that come and go
Afternoons as wide as a river
A tree leaf I am
Falling free
An old autumn night under a fallen leaf
Silently sitting in the moment of an autumn night
Music reflects ripples of loneliness from another life
The lamp of desolation illuminates
Reminiscence mellow as jade
Nostalgia captured in ink and wash
The reverie of olden days grows thin as I move on
I fend off the northern wind with all my might
Writing verses of fond memories on wandering leaves
I varnish every musical note
And place it carefully by my ear
Hometown, an image in the wavering smoke
Glows upon the winding path of my yearning
When chrysanthemum blossoms at midnight
My old home comes alive, intoxicated in her beauty and fragrance
Maybe it’s better the dream remains in slumber
And the worn-out wood allowed to rest
But whence comes a song
That warms my loneliness and nourishes it
Faster than I can, the rain shall reach you first
Side by side with May
We sit in the rain bringing more desolation
We gaze at the sunlight delicately streaming across the empty pond
The sparkling happiness now looks muddy
And where has the golden fish gone?
I hear the gurgling stream, I see the prophecy
Grasped by the xiao flute across the forest
Right now
The blue of the poem, the blue of the rain
Both dripping into my heart
Searching for a bank
Autumn
Mountains witness sad departures, happy reunions
Memories one must wade across rivers to reach
So much efforts of loneliness
So many secret happiness of bright colours
Volumes of thinning glasses held close to my heart
I know
Fast than I can, the rain shall reach you first
