Poets of the world shudders and solidarity with the Mapuche people. For David Altamirano*
CHILE: Fascinating has been the route of the members of Poets of the World in the First International Poetry as called 'Way South'an activity that was initiated on 19 and ends on February 28, 2011. the poets were welcomed by the Mapuche brothers held in the public jail in Temuco, in a show of solidarity with the indigenous people.
The representatives of countries like Sweden, Serbia, France, Italy, Colombia, the Mapuche people., Argentina, Chile, among others, were pleased with the opportunity it has given the event to know personally the suffering of indigenous communities, having the opportunity of the party members,to share with the Mapuche prisoners held in the public jail in Temuco,as are unjustly prosecuted as 'terrorists' epithet used by the local prosecutor to try to silence the just claim of the rights of indigenous peoples of Chile.
Hear the personal testimony of the brothers unjustly imprisoned, give grounds to demand that the government and Chilean political class, to end the persecution of those who gave their first match against the Spanish conquerors and those who legitimately claim to their lands precisely, seized by the European invaders.
The World Poets shuddered to knowing the injustice of state agencies, as Chilean the Attorney,
institutional body that must ensure the social protection of the individual and not part of the interests of some, by ignoring the history of a people who, by contrast, deserves recognition worthy of a country that discriminates against them today.
This story is not within the Public Ministry's investigation.
The recent news of condemns against a group of Mapuche brothers, has led the Poets of the World Movement to consider an application for protection before international tribunals in order to sensitize world opinion on human rights abuses committed by the Chilean State.

es una bella melodía
como una linda flor
que pide justicia
para crecer en una
preciosa primavera
de libertad,
sin tener que sentirse
prisionera del dolor
con el profundo llanto
de una cruel discriminación.
El Pueblo Mapuche
son manos que trabajan
con sudor y sin descanso
por la Tierra Chilena,
son los pulmones explotados
de la clase obrera,
donde le ponen barreras
y les niegan su bandera.
La anciana mapuche
lleva en su cálida frente
las arrugas marcadas
por el sufrimiento
y la explotación sin razón
que jamás tendrá perdón.
La mujer mapuche
es despreciada por
una mentalidad clasista
y egoísta, es ignorada
por su hermoso rostro
y por tener apellido mapuche.
