WHAT LIFE IS
Life … Mysterious Serious Arduous Tedious And Perilous. At times … Glamorous Hilarious Gracious Prosperous And Lustrous. Love … Delightful Mirthful Playful Wonderful And Eventful At times … Frightful Mournful Doubtful Distrustful And Dreadful Love and life The two shores And two sides Of life’s coin If balanced With equal wit, If sailed In true spirit, No doubt Ratifies Satisfies Glorifies And justifies What life is. ---------------------------------------
SHROUDING FEARS
The gliding waterfall Drench the foothill, Ultimately sliding Into a flowing stream. The flowers have not wilted But are not lively too, Somewhat painful is the view Devoid of reasons appropriate. Encircling the horizon The dusk seems surging, Clouds advance to envelope Like an un-rolling blanket. Fearing a storm Perhaps, The homecoming birds, Rush back to their nests From the turbulent skies. Shouldering commitments, The tall and lean shepherd Who faced several upheavals, Wade through the dusty winds. Will the pleasant moon Peep through the chaotic clouds To shower moonlight today? Yesterday was chill and fiery, But, what about tonight? Will the buds of yesterday Aspire to blossom, Or would they fall shattered? At the feet of tomorrow’s light. Except for the echoing wind, Except for thunderous lightening, Everything seems awfully calm Expecting an outrageous storm, Advancing with a fatal rage. -------------------------------------
WHAT A REWARD INDEED
Revenge is not one should speak Unity is what one should seek Wars have created destructions Peace, isolated with hasty actions. Thousands perished in the crossfire When wars created havoc-filled ire. Thousands have starved to death When famines unfurled their wrath. Brave soldiers, with patriotic fervor Staked their lives and upheld honor. Women and children, young and old Regardless of gender, stood bold. Screaming with revenge and ferocity Streams of blood gush with intensity. Though wisdom stood in the forefront Circumstances trip out of the dragnet. What have we achieved to boast of? What have we acquired to show-off? See, awash with tears, soaked in blood, Lives are staked for a morsel of food. O Mother Earth ! What a reward indeed.
