A little over twenty years ago, on October 14, 2005, a dream that many considered impossible was born in Valpara\u00edso (Chile): to build an international network of poets committed not only to literary creation, but also to peace, fraternity among peoples and the preservation of the planet.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is how Poets of the World<\/span><\/span><\/strong> was born <\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years, that dream grew extraordinarily. During the first decade, hundreds of new members joined each year, reaching nearly a thousand new poets annually at certain times. Shortly before the pandemic, our organization brought together around <\/span><\/span>9,500 poets and writers from more than 140 countries<\/span><\/span><\/strong> , establishing itself as one of the largest international poetry networks in existence.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But every story has its difficult moments.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A few years ago, we suffered a loss that seemed irreversible. Our website disappeared along with its entire database, built over fifteen years of work. Thousands of profiles, articles, photographs, manifestos, and documents appeared to have been lost forever.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As if that weren’t enough, since August 2014 an old Facebook page for Poets of the World, with over forty thousand followers, has continued to circulate. It was hacked and remains beyond our control. Despite numerous efforts with Meta, it has not been possible to recover or remove it, causing profound confusion among our members and the public for years.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Many thought the Movement had disappeared.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But it wasn’t like that.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Just when I was ready to accept the permanent loss of our historical files, I decided to make one last attempt. I contacted the professional who had developed our old platform again. The response arrived on <\/span><\/span>November 25, 2025<\/span><\/span><\/strong> , and completely changed the course of our story: the original database files had appeared on an old backup drive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then began a huge technological reconstruction effort.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For several months, a completely new, modern, bilingual platform was developed, ready to respond to the current needs of a truly international organization.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On <\/span><\/span>March 21, 2026<\/span><\/span><\/strong> , coinciding with <\/span><\/span>World Poetry Day , we officially launched the new <\/span><\/span><\/strong>World Poets<\/span><\/span><\/strong> platform <\/span>, marking the beginning of a new stage for our Movement.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But the renovation was not limited to the technological aspect.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During these months we have also strengthened our international presence, reorganized our continental and national structures, incorporated new communication tools and opened spaces for more active participation of our members.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One of these new spaces is the <\/span><\/span>World Poets Blog<\/span><\/span><\/strong> , recently launched on our official platform. From now on, news, reports, chronicles, interviews, and activities of the Movement will be published here and progressively translated into several languages, thus strengthening cultural exchange among our members from different continents.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The blog was created with a clear purpose: to become the living memory of the Movement and a permanent window to spread the work of our poets throughout the world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This new phase has already begun to bear its first fruits.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In June 2026, we successfully held the <\/span><\/span>II International Meeting of World Poets in Italy<\/span><\/span><\/strong> , a cultural journey that brought together writers, artists and cultural managers from America, Europe and Africa for nine days on a tour through Rome, Florence, Bologna, Ferrara, Rovigo, Mestre and Venice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It was much more than a series of poetry readings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It was a demonstration that poetry is still capable of building bridges between cultures, generating friendship between people from different backgrounds, and reminding us that art can continue to be a tool for dialogue and hope in a deeply fragmented world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Today, Poets of the World continues to grow.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The new platform allows each member to have their own space to share their work, strengthen ties between poets from different countries, and develop joint cultural projects. At the same time, we continue to promote a more active presence on social media and new mechanisms for international communication.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We live in times marked by wars, climate crises, inequalities, and deep social fractures.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

That is precisely why we believe that poetic language remains necessary.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Not because poetry can solve humanity’s great problems on its own, but because it has the ability to awaken consciences, humanize dialogue, and remind us that behind every border there is a human being.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After twenty years, we still believe in the same dream that gave rise to this Movement.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A world where poetry is not only a literary act, but also an ethical commitment to life, to human dignity, and to the future of the planet.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The story of Poets of the World continues to be written.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And this new stage is just beginning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Because poetry knows no borders.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
