The brutal murder of the 35 year old Peruvian Poet James Osco. Por Nina La Porta
The brutal murder of the 35 year old Peruvian Poet James Osco will be remembered as one of many unpunished crimes committed against intellectuals for having the courage and strength to raise their voice and use the power of the word to defend the needs of marginalized people. He suffered a cruel and painful death, tortured at the hands of his assassins. Those responsible for this horrific act still remain at large while his family, friends and intellectual world suffer an eternal loss. He fought for humane rights and solidarity amongst his people. He was a person of integrity, loved by his colleagues and students and was always at the service of the people. We the poets of the world demand that justice be served. This crime can not be forgotten. In this chaotic world we live in, we must stand united and continue to use the power of free speech to bring awareness to the people about the direction of the humane race. Let us unite our thoughts and words so that we can continue to fight for those whom can’t defend themselves. James Osco’s life was ended but we must continue to spread the word of peace and freedom so that his death was not in vain. Foto: Nina La Porta |
