Convocation for the POETS OF THE WORLD to participate in an Anthology of Solidarity to honor J Oscco 
 

It is already public knowledge the case related to James Oscco Anamaría who was brutally murdered in Peru and for whose murder justice and investigation are being demanded. Hundreds of poets from all around the world have responded to the appeal repudiating this mean deed. Many poets sent their writings and given the lack of space and time available these works have not been published. Today to illustrate the response to this appeal we are going to reproduce some of this work:

“James Oscco Anamaría, the poet, was murdered. Our day to day brutality remains intact and unfortunately this does not surprise me anymore. They scorched his body with cigarettes, they pulled his nails out and his eye balls were emptied. Beloved poet, your death will not be in vain. We will scream hard so that your name does not vanish into smoke and forgetfulness. The poets´songs will cross the streets throughout and show the horror generated by bestiality.
The inquisitorial system remains intact but disguised. He was murdered in the worst possible way. I did not see the information about his death in the media or any official means of communication. They are always covering the same realities to entertain the people. We are informed what they wish to inform us.
The Peruvian poet has died. It could have been anyone of us. And all the more since our word addresses peace, the unity of peoples, equal rights, a stop to hunger and it points to politicians ineffectiveness among the many other atrocities in this system which is coming apart, faster every minute.
Decadent reality will only be changed when we banish the seeds of hatred and evil which is grabbing hold of the heart of those in leadership in the world. The road to a spiritual revolution can transform us and impact on the consciousness of others. The word is a tenacious and persevering tool. All the more so when it becomes accompanied by the reality of love. Let us embrace the poet. Let us keep on working so that beasts fall down on their knees and request forgiveness. With our souls towards that which is the origins of Everything.

“The fact that in Colombia violent acts are committed pains me. Of course this is not something new to humanity. Nor on account of this we ought to become used to it. I thus also raise my voice to protest against any murder, all the more so when a colleague is the victim, a colleague whose only voice is that of the soul, whose voice drains one’s own pains and those of others and who sings to the helpless as much as to the joy of living. I become one more person in pain and condemn the trampling underfoot of any individual person in any country and least of all when it affects the intellectuals from our lands with their own values who disagree with the prevalent values of the day. We are voices who set the alarm to set the course straight and assess reality through our verses, full of truth which at times might not please. That is the issue, to speak strongly with the force of poems to denounce those “scabbards” as we say in my country! I regret this death as much as those of many other innocents and I am in solidarity with a plea to Peru’s President to fully investigate the assassination of the young poet James Oscco and for PUNISHING THE ASSASSINS as an example of healthy sharing of the same life. I demand that these arbitrary deeds which disturb the Continent and the World never happen again.

“The murder of the poet and teacher from Apurimac, James Oscco Anamaría, is a crime against all. There is co participation in this crime not only by those who incurred in the savagery of torture and the nonsensical behavior that lacked bravery and resulted in taking life away from someone else. Also there is co participation by those authorities who maintain a penal and police system that makes sure impunity prevails. They will never silence the voice of the poets. Their words are like the wind which lives in all and for all. Let us fight for a more humane world!

These are some of the expressions of solidarity which have been received from our colleagues. We cannot reproduce them all. I ask forgiveness in this regards from my brothers and sisters the poets. The important thing is those actions we can undertake and one of these actions is this call to all poets of the world.
Faced to the silence and disregard by the authorities to carrying out an exhaustive investigation and launching a judicial process for those responsible of the crime we call upon the Poets of the World to participate in a “Poetic Anthology in Solidarity” to assist the “Support Committee for the Family of James Oscco Anamaría-Lima [CAF-JOAL]”.

Convocation guidelines

1.- Every poet who wishes to participate can do so. Poets can be from any nationality and write in any language. The poem cannot be longer than 30 lines including the title, and spaces in between lines. The poem can have as a topic what happened to James Oscco or other themes of a universal content and nature such as for example Human Rights , Peace, Freedom, Justice, the Right to Life, etc…

2. - Participating poets cannot claim author’s rights.

3.- 10% of the sales in connection to “Author´s Rights” will go to the “Committee in Support to James Oscco Anamaría-Lima’s Family [CAF-JOAL].

4.- Participating poets will have to buy two [2] copies of the Anthology previous to the close of the deadline to make reception of their work. Each copy will cost US$12. That is each participating poet will have to buy two books for US$24 plus US$16 for shipping costs for both copies through certified mail. The total cost is US$40. [forty dollars US]

5. - The anthology will be open to the participation of 150 poets. [One poem per poet]

6. - Closing deadline for participation [Sending the poem and payment in anticipation] will be May 15, 2006 at 24:00 hours.

7.- The work edition will be finished and copies start distribution by certified mail during June 2006

8. - The Anthology’s edition will be the responsibility of Apostrophes Editions.
