Lin Wu-hsien / 林武憲

Lin Wu-hsien is a Taiwanese children’s poet.  His works encompass over 100 volumes, including “Endless Sky”, an anthology with English translation and accompanying CD, nursery rhymes in Taiwanese, and teaching materials for Mandarin and Taiwanese language learners.  Many of them have been translated into English, Japanese, Korean and German, as well as composed by local and foreign composers.  They are also featured in textbooks in Taiwan, Singapore, and China.  He is cited in the Encyclopedia of World Children’s Literature.  

林武憲，台灣兒童詩人，編著有中英對照有聲書《無限的天空》、台語兒歌及國台語教材等100多冊，部分作品譯成英、日、韓、德文，有國內外作曲家譜曲，編入台灣、新加坡、中國的教材，事蹟編入百科全書及《世界兒童文學事典》。

        Sunlight /  陽光

 

Sunlight    up to the window    climbing

Sunlight    on the flower             smiling

Sunlight    in the brook               rippling

Sunlight    from Mama’s eyes    shining

 

 

 

        陽光

 

陽光    在窗上    爬著

陽光    在花上    笑著

陽光    在溪上    流著

陽光    在媽媽的眼裡    亮著

 

 

        Window of the Mind /  心窗

 

Opening my eyes

I see

The sky

 

Opening my ears

I hear

Flowers smile

 

Opening the window

I open

My mind

 

 

        心窗

 

把眼睛打開

我看見

天空

 

打耳朵打開

我聽見

花笑了

 

把窗子打開

我的心

也開了

 

 

        Fishing /  釣魚

 

In the water

The fish was happy

Singing

Playing hide-and-seek

Blowing bubbles and

bubbles and bubbles……

 

Catching the fish

The fisherman was happy

He will never know

The fish’s tears

Are in the water……

 

 

        釣魚

 

魚。很快樂。

在水裡。唱歌。

在水裡。捉迷藏。

在水裡。吹泡泡。

。。。。。。。。

 

把魚釣起來

釣魚的人很快樂

他不知道

水裡有魚的眼淚……

 

 

          Willow’s Hair / 柳樹的頭髮

 

Willow’s hair is soft and silky

He think it oh so pretty

And grows it longer and longer, longer and longer ……

It hides his face

It covers his body

 

Says the wind, combing his hair,

“Ah, old willow

Why not fix up your hair?”

Replies the willow,

“Some cut their hair for the sake of beauty,

I don't cut it, also for the beauty's sake.”

 

        柳樹的頭髮

 

柳樹的頭髮又細又軟

捨不得把它剪短

頭髮越留越長，越留越長……

把臉遮住了，把身體遮住了。

 

風來幫他梳頭髮的時候說：

「老柳啊！你的頭髮

怎麼不理一理啊？」

柳樹說：

「人家理髮，是為了漂亮

  我不理髮，也是為了漂亮啊。」

 

        Autumn’s Message /  秋天的信 

 

Autumn is writing letters

Falling leaves are her papers

Wind is her carrier

 

The lazy carrier

At every stop

Flings out the mail

 

Some fall on the squirrel

Some fall on the frog

Geese hurrying home, take some along

 

In the pond, amid the bushes,

Everywhere we see autumn’s message:

Hurry, animals, prepare for winter

 

        秋天的信 

 

秋天，要給大家寫信

用葉子做信紙

請風當郵差

 

偷懶的郵差

每到一個地方

就把信一拋

 

有的信，落在松鼠頭上

有的信，掉在青蛙身旁

趕路的雁，也銜了一頁回家

 

池塘裡，草叢中

到處都有秋天的信

動物們急忙準備過冬
